Vietnam Airlines resumed regular commercial service to China on December 9 after nearly three years of interruption due to the pandemic.

According to information from Vietnam Airlines, the company will formally reopen a number of flights between Vietnam and China to meet passenger demand as China implements efforts to ease laws to prevent and contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

VN 502 flight departed from Ho Chi Minh City to Guangzhou at 9:55 a.m. on December 9. It is the first scheduled commercial flight between China and Vietnam that resumed after nearly 3 years.

In the first phase, Vietnam Airlines will restart service on three routes to China: Ho Chi Minh City to Guangzhou will resume service on December 9, departing every Friday; Hanoi to Shanghai will resume service on December 12, with a frequency of two flights per week on Mondays and Fridays; Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai will depart every Wednesday, beginning on December 14.

Vietnam Airlines resumed regular flights to China, bringing the total number of flights operated on the international network to more than 600 flights per week, equivalent to 70% of the operating frequency before the epidemic.

The airline advises travelers to actively review the entry rules issued by the Chinese Embassy to verify they have the right paperwork and follow the right processes, which includes doing a 48-hour PCR test. Before the flight time, make a declaration to get the Health Code and rigorously follow the regulations of isolation and the use of N95 masks when entering.

From now until March 26, 2023, flights to China will be available for sale and departure. Tickets for Vietnam Airlines flights can be purchased nationally through the airline's official ticket outlets and agents, website, and mobile application.
