On the morning of December 28, when hearing that Fansipan peak had snow and rain, many tourists, despite the sub-zero temperatures, immediately went "snow hunting".
At about 9 am, more than 100 tourists went to the top of Fansipan, right after the cable car opened, to catch the first snow of the season. Most of them are young people, in their 20s. Under the cold of minus 1 degrees Celsius, the girls wear colorful dresses or coats to take pictures. Many people make snow shapes, even if their hands are frozen. Male tourists are somewhat more careful when dressing warmly, with sports shoes, wool hats and windbreakers

Fansipan, 3,143 m high, is the highest mountain in Vietnam, known as the Roof of Indochina, located in Hoang Lien National Park, about 10 km from the center of Sapa town. In winter, when the temperature drops, Fansipan is usually the place where the first snow falls in Vietnam.
Mr. Luu Minh Hai, former Director of the Lao Cai Provincial Hydro-meteorological Station, shared that the cause of this snowfall was due to the cold air that was pouring down to the North, combined with the convergence of wind at 1,500 meters high. This phenomenon is expected to repeat in the next 3 days.

At about 5 am this morning, the area of Fansipan peak in Lao Cai appeared snowy. This is the first time of the year that it rains and snows here. A layer of snow about 2 cm thick covers the symbolic area of the mountain peak and the roofs of ancient Vietnamese pagodas. The lowest temperature this morning sometimes drops to -5 degrees.
