As one of the world’s most modern cruise ships, the MSC Splendida has 18 storeys, 1,343 rooms that enjoy a sea view, five swimming pools, and six restaurants situated next to an entertainment area that covers 450,000m2.

During its first visit to Vietnam, passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the nation’s best tourist attractions in both Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria Vung Tau.

The majority of the passengers onboard come from the UK, Australia, the United States, Brazil, and Spain while the ship is scheduled to originally depart from Singapore before passing through Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Roughly 800 tourists have registered to go ashore to take tours to some of the southern city’s famous tourist attractions, with medical staff measuring the body temperature of passengers in order to correctly monitor their health condition.

The cruise ship plans to remain in Ba Ria - Vung Tau for a single day before moving on to Thailand.

Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, said that amid fears surrounding the novel coronavirus epidemic, the arrival of international visitors by sea represents good news for the local tourism industry, noting that the province has taken drastic preventive measures to combat the epidemic at accommodation facilities and entertainment spots to ensure the safety of tourists.

She added that inspection teams have been hard at work at accommodation establishments and tourist sites to carry out prevention work aimed at eradicating bacteria and cleaning up the environment, while also requesting tourism staff protect themselves and ensure the safety of guests.
