Hue, Da Nang Welcome 1,200 Visitors From Cruise Ships

Tien Sa port in the central coastal city of Da Nang and Chan May port in the central province Thua Thien Hue welcomed two cruise ships, the Crystal Symphony and the Silver Spirit, with both vessels bringing a combined total of over 1,200 passengers from Northern Europe, North America, and Australia to the two cities.
Upon the arrival of the ships in the port, medical staff moved to quarantine all passengers and crew members. Following an inspection, there were no signs of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) detected with the port authorities, customs, and border guards also conducting entry procedures for all passengers.
The Silver Spirit cruise ship has a total capacity of 648 passengers and 412 crew, although there were only 228 passengers and 405 crew members on board at the time of its arrival in port.
Along with this, the Crystal Symphony has a total capacity of 848 passengers and 545 crew members, with only 147 passengers being on board upon its arrival.
More than 150 guests from both ships have registered to go ashore in order to visit tourist attractions in the two cities.
Le Huu Minh, Acting Director of the Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism, said that along with strengthening preventive measures to combat the COVID-19, the province’s tourism industry has also been focusing on improving its service quality, whilst seeking to exploit other markets, and offering stimulus packages aimed at attracting more tourists.
In addition, hotels have made improvements to their service quality whilst also putting forward plans to intensify tourism promotion activities in the near future, according to Minh.
