The Da Nang municipal People’s Committee have announced that the central city will not be organising any international fireworks festival during 2020 as a result of fears surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.
Following the decision, the committee has assigned the local Department of Culture and Sports to inform related agencies and make both residents and tourists aware of the decision.
Although preparations for an international fireworks festival had been underway, the global impact of the COVID-19 had caused the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee to cancel the event this year.
Da Nang had been hosting the festival annually for the past 11 years, with the event serving as an effective way to promote the local tourism industry.
