China's reopening is a good sign for Vietnam's tourism as Chinese tourists accounted for more than 30% of foreign visitors to Vietnam in 2019.

The COVID-19-related limitations in China started to loosen up in the middle of 2022, which helped to lessen the interruption to the global supply chain. After a period of "frozen" as a result of the country's stricter disease prevention and control regulations, one of the industrial groups benefiting from China's opening signal is the travel and tourism sector.

As a result, companies involved in the travel, lodging, and aviation industries will profit from the increase in Chinese tourists. The export of Vietnamese agricultural products will also be aided by the facilitation of cross-border trade between the two nations.

The restoration of international lines will also be advantageous to the aviation sector. When China gradually eases epidemic prevention and control measures in December 2022, Vietnamese airlines indicated they aim to resume commercial flights there.

Vietnam Airlines will resume service on the routes Hanoi to Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Initially, 1-2 flights each week. According to Bamboo Airways, on December 6th the company operated the first two flights from Hanoi to Tianjin in China, carrying close to 400 people.

Airlines claim that the foundation for reestablishing the aviation network to the market of billions of people is the reopening of commercial flights. When commercial flights between the two nations begin, previous internet interactions will be "opened", which will make travel, exchange, and trade collaboration more convenient.
