Phong Nha Ke Bang, one of the most appealing national parks of Vietnam, is located in Minh Hoa and Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, about 500 kilometers from Hanoi City, 250 kilometers from Danang City, bordering the Hin Namno National Reservation of Laos. It has a total area of 2000 km2 comprised of the heart zone (nearly 900 kilometers) and the buffer zone (nearly 2000 kilometers). The national park is to the North of Truong Son mountain range, the oldest range, and limestone in Asia dating back to 400 million years ago.

This National Park was created with the view to protecting this one of the two largest karsts in the world. Favored with 300 caves and grottoes as well as the diversified ecosystem with a variety of plants and animals under the 95-percent forest covering the area, Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park provides valuable information about the prolonged geological process of the Earth Planet. Therefore, it has so far been considered as a myth land for researchers worldwide.
In 2009, a group of scientists from Britain discovered Son Doong Cave (one of the caves belonging to Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park) to be the biggest caves in the world. After this information was public, more and more tourists have been coming to Phong Nha Ke Bang, Vietnam. With its extraordinary landscapes and values, Phong Nha Ke Bang has been twice recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO once in 2003 and once in 2015.
