1. Weather in Moc Chau, Vietnam
Moc Chau is a plateau located in the northern mountainous area of Vietnam. With the variation of its climate and the short distance from Hanoi, Moc Chau becomes a well-known destination for tourist in almost every season of the year. The highest temperature recorded in Moc Chau is 32oC and the lowest is approximate 10oC. The average temperature here ranges from 16oC to 29oC.

The wet season of Moc Chau happens mostly from May to July, when the precipitation rises up to no lower than 300mm. The total precipitation is estimated from 1800 to 2100 mm per year. While the summer has a good amount of rain, the winter doesnot. The precipitation in winter just varies from 30 mm to 85 mm per month.
Although Moc Chau is a plateau in a mountainous area, there is rarely snow here. For 9 years since 2010 until recently, there has been just one time that there was snow in Moc Chau in January 2016.
2. When is the best time to visit Moc Chau, Vietnam
a. From January to March – The season of peach and plum blossom and Het Cha festival
The most beautiful season of white plum blossom in Moc Chau marks from the end of January to the early of February. The plum blossom lasts for a short time about just two or three weeks before giving its place for plum fruits. At this time, Moc Chau has a stunning beauty with all-mountain slopes covered of white plum flowers,and other beautiful flowers. Plum blossom can be seen everywhere including roads, from villages to hills and also along two sides of the highways. After February is the time of Het Cha festival in March. Het Cha festival is a traditional event of Thai people – an ethnic minority in Moc Chau. Het Cha festival is celebratedin Ang Village, Dong Sang Ward, Moc Chau District. Het Cha Festival is to celebrate at the end of Ban flower season and also a day to commemorate the spirit who protect the villages. Het Cha Festival happens on 26th March but it is prepared a day before. The locals prepare food as ritual items such as pigs, sticky rice, chickens and white ban flowers to decorate trees. In Het Cha Festivals, people dance around Xang Cha, which is an item built of old bamboo and other decorating items.

b. From November to December – The season of cauliflowers and marigold flowers
Around November and December, the end of Autumn and early winter is the best time to travel to Moc Chau. During these months, you can have chances to observe the beauty of Moc Chau Plateau covered with the white color of cauliflowers. White cauliflowers bloom in the green hills make it an ideal place for photographers to take wedding pictures and for couple to enjoy their honeymoon. Ang Village and Thung Cuong Village are two beautiful places to hunt cauliflowers. Do not forget to bring cameras or other devices to take pictures of Moc Chau so you won’t miss any memorable moments here. In December, Moc Chau is full of colorful flowers. Marigold flowers in Moc Chau is known as the signal of incoming winter. Marigold bloom in green hills, which makes Moc Chau look like wearing new colorful costumes.
