On August 28th, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Binh Phuoc province held a ceremony to announce the national treasure of Loc Hoa lithophone.

The lithophone was discovered by Bui Huu Trieu (Loc Hoa commune, Loc Ninh district) in 1996, with 12 bars, then 14 more. Binh Phuoc authorities have coordinated with scientific agencies to study and determine that is a lithophone – an instrument of prehistoric people. This instrument has a neat tone, clear height, long chord, and having the requirements of an instrument. National treasure Loc Hoa lithophone has sophisticated techniques, dating back over 3,000 years, demonstrating the presence of ancient people in the land of Binh Phuoc.

Loc Hoa Monuments (where the lithophone discovered) was excavated in 1997-1998, with a comprehensive study of geo-terrain, archeological layers and relics to recognize the literary environment. The lithophone is processed from the rock type of stone, is the impact of weather conditions at varying degrees. It has often the color of blue-black, gray-blue, gray ash, medium hardness so easy to hew, styling and edit by the manual method.
