Recently, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Viet Nam has actively supported and co-operated with Quang Nam in the field of tourism through projects implemented in scale and significance.

One of the outstanding projects that JICA is carrying out in Quang Nam is the Non-refundable Aid for Aquatic Environment Improvement in Chua Cau area (Hoi An) – a popular tourist destination but currently being neglected Water pollution is quite serious. This project supports the improvement of the sewerage system and the construction of a wastewater treatment plant with the capacity of 2000 m3 / day to treat polluted water in the canal leading to the bridge. So far, the plant is installing electricity system and is expected to be completed in October or November 2015.

In addition to the non-refundable aid project, JICA also conducts a number of small-scale cooperative projects under the form of “Development Cooperation Partnership”, in which JICA provides budget support and mandates implementation for non-governmental organizations, local governments or universities in Japan to encourage the participation of Japanese people in international cooperation using official development assistance (ODA) technology and experience sharing.
